Electrometer designed and made by John Cuthbertson (bap.1743-d.1821) for Martin van Marum and used at Teyler's Museum at Haarlem in the Netherlands. Shown attached to an electrical conducting rod. Plate 1 from a supplement to Beschryving eene ongemeen groote electrizeer-machine geplaatst in Teyler's Museum...by Martinus van Marum (Haarlemn, 1785). The plate is inscribed 'Pl. I*. The engraver is not credited. Martin van Marum was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society in 1798.
