Ornithological studies of two dried specimens of the Bird-of-paradise. Figures 1-2 [left and right] "The Bird of Paradise in two Views; taken from the Royal Society." Figure 3 "A Bird of Paradise from Amboina; drawn from Dr. Ruysch's cabinet at Amsterdam." [Ambon in the Moluka Islands, Indonesia]. Plate 12 from the book A philosophical account of the works of nature, by Richard Bradley (London, 1721). Inscribed "Plate XII. T.Cole sculp." Richard Bradley (1688-1732) English botanist and writer, was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society in 1712. Figures1-2 on this plate is a specimen from the Royal Society's Repository.
