Waterspouts
Study of waterspouts at sea, intended to illustrate the attractive force of electrical clouds (eg thunderclouds). Plate 3 figure 20 from TraitÚ de l ÚlectricitÚ et du magnÚtisme...Atlas... by Antoine CÚsar Becquerel (Paris, 1840). The plate is headed "TROMBES" and inscribed "Dessine par M.Bevalet. GravÚ par Paul Legrand." Antoine CÚsar Becquerel (1788-1878) was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society in 1837.
