Two lizards of North America

Zoological studies of two lizards from the south-western United States of America and Mexico, with two details. Figure 1 Iguana (Cyclura) acanthura, the North-eastern spinytail iguana [modern taxonomy Ctenosaura acanthura]. Figure 2 Callisaurus dragonoides the Zebra-tailed lizard. Figures 1A and 2A are details of the pelvis of each reptile. Plate 24 from the monograph "Description de quelques espÞce de reptiles de la Californieà", by H M D de Blainville from Nouvelles Annales du Museum d'Histoire Naturelle, vol. 4 (1835). The plate is inscribed: "Nouv. Annales du Museum 1835. Pl: 24. PrÞtre pinxt. Impr: Lith. De Thierry Freres. Franke delt. 1. Cyclura acanthura. 2. Callysaurus draconoides." Henri Marie Ducrotay de Blainville (1777-1850), French zoologist and anatomist, was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society in 1832.
