Product images of Tringa leucoptera
Ornithological study of the Tahitian sandpiper or White-winged sandpiper Prosobonia leucoptera (here styles Tringa leucoptera). This extinct bird was discovered on Captain James Cook’s second voyage of discovery. It is known from a single specimen at the Rijksmuseum van Natuurlijke Historie in Leiden, probably from the collections of Johann Georg Adam Forster (1754-1794) and therefore the specimen shown here.
