Ornithological study of an Australian Owlet-nightjar (Aegotheles cristatus) a nocturnal bird native to Australia. Plate 29 from Journal of a voyage to New South Wales...by John White (J.Debrett, London, 1790). The accompanying text states that: "The birds of this genus are remarkable for the excessive wideness of the mouth...They feed on insects, particularly on beetles." The plate is inscribed: "S.Stone Delin. The Crested Goatsucker. London Published as the Act directs Dec: 29, 1789, by I.Debrett."
