Plate 2 from an unpublished paper endorsed "An account of a course of experiments made by Mark Beaufoy Esqr., with a view of ascertaining the form that will enable a solid to move thro water with the smallest possible resistance". Not published in the Philosophical Transactions of the Royal Society. Seven figures of shapes used in experiments described by the author as being "on different solids moving through the water in the direction of their shortest axis, that is broad side foremost.
