Oval head and shoulders portrait of Coxe in a fur trimmed robe. Inscribed: "EUROPEAN MAGAZINE WILLIAM COXE. A.M. F.R.S. Engav'd by Thos Holloway. Publish'd by J.Sewell Cornhill 1786." General biographical notes in pencil, verso. William Coxe was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society in 1782.
