Portrait of Louisa Charlotte Tyndall (1845-1940)
The sitter appears in half-profile, facing left, her face shadowed and her hair worn up. Louisa Tyndall's dress is light brown, edged with lace and heavily embroidered panels in a leaf design. Around her neck, held on a claret ribbon, is a heavy gold pendant, with the word 'ROMA' just visible. Intended to commemorate her wedding and to be viewed with the companion work, John Tyndall. Signed "V. Zippenfeld" [fl. 1834-1871].
Original: oil on canvas, 600x465mm. 1877
