'Painted lamia'
Entomological study of an insect identified by the author as the Painted lamia Lamia picta, native to Australia. Plate 4 from The zoological miscellany; being a description of new, or interesting animals, by William Elford Leach, volume 1 (London, 1815). The plate is inscribed: "Drawn Engraved & Published by R. P. Nodder Jany. 1814." William Elford Leach (1790-1836) British naturalist was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society in 1816.
