Miners' safety lamp
Plate 1 from the paper "On the fire-damp of coal mines, and on methods of lighting the mines so as to prevent its explosion", by Humphry Davy, Philosophical Transactions of the Royal Society, vol.106 (1816), pp.1-22. Safety lamp designs and details comprising figures 1-8 of the published plate, in a variant order. Figures 9-11 which appeared on the published plate are not present. The work is inscribed with publication and plate details. Not signed. Royal Society stamp verso.
