Sketch of a 'dark cloud', identified by its observer as a water spout, seen in the sky over Oxford, England, on 21 September 1760. In the accompanying description, Swinton states that the cloud or pillar, 'would have resembled an iris [rainbow], had not the colours of it been different'.
