Zoological studies of the wall lizard referred to by the author as Lacerta muralis, probably Podarcus sicula, the Italian wall lizard (Podarcis muralis is the common wall lizard) of southern Europe, including the island of Capri, Italy. The illustrations show natural variations in patterning. Figure 1 male lizard, elegans. Figure 2 male lizard maculata. Figure 3 female lizard, striata. Figure 4 Female lizard, modesta.
