Engraving of insects from thesis CLXIX 'Bigae Insectorum' by Andreas Dahl, 1775, published in volume 8 of Amoenitates academicae (Stockholm, 1785). Amoenitates academicae ('Academic delights', 10 volumes, 1749-1790) was published in Carl Linnaeus's name, and edited by him (vols 1-7) and J C D Schreber (vols 8-10). It consisted of theses presented and defended by students at Uppsala University.
