Showing the human stomach inverted to show its internal surface. The work is inscribed above with the plate number and below "Human to show the Glands & contraction. Natural Size." Not signed. Royal Society stamp verso. Embossed lower left "Bristol Paper." Subsequent plate figures, nos. 2 and 3, are attached to this illustration by red sealing wax.
