Human ovary and corpus luteum during and after pregnancy

Plate 4 figures 1-5 and plate 5 figures 5-6 from the paper "On the corpora lutea", by Everard Home, Philosophical Transactions of the Royal Society, vol.109 (1819), pp.59-69. These seven original figures were divided between two plates on publication, removing two views of the ovary of a woman of 70 years of age (figures 6-7, not numbered). The others (figures 1-5, numbered) show the ovary and corpus lutem five days and six weeks after impregnation. The work is inscribed with publication and plate details. Signed lower left "Franz Bauer." Royal Society stamp verso.

Original: watercolour on paper. 1818
