Zoological studies of three types of marine and freshwater specimens. Figure 1 a flying-fish "from the Royal Society". Figure 2 nest of the 'Tickleback' eg stickleback, probably the freshwater fish Gasterosteus aculeatus aculeatus, the three-spined stickleback. Figure 3 four specimens of caddisfly cases. Plate 8 from the book A philosophical account of the works of nature, by Richard Bradley (London, 1721). Inscribed "Plate VIII. T.Cole sculp." Richard Bradley (1688-1732) English botanist and writer, was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society in 1712. Figure 1 on this plate is a specimen from the Royal Society's Repository.
