Anatomical studes of the thorax of the common or harbour porpoise Phocoena phocoena (figure 1) with details of the skull (figures 2-3) and the chest wall (figure 4). Plate 4 figures 1-4 from Histoire anatomique et physiologique d'un organe de nature vasculaire dÚcouvert dans les cÚtacÚs..., by M.G. Breschet (Paris, 1836). Headed "Plexus arterial des cÚtacÚs. Et veine azygos renfermÚe dans la canal rachidien [Arterial plexus of cetaceans.Azygos vein enclosed in the spinal canal]. Inscribed below "A. Chazal del. Mars 1834. Litho. de Benard".
