The state when patients die during the cold stage of the disease (figure 1), an alternative alteration occurring at this stage or in the transition from the cold stage to the typhoid stage(figure 2) and an example of hepatisation in the lower lung lobe (figure 3), which usually takes place in the typhoid stage of the disease or in cases of a prolonged cold stage.
