Calx fluor
Two specimens of fluorite, here termed 'fluate of lime, or fluor', with a figure showing its crystalline form. Plate 73 from British mineralogy: or coloured figures intended to elucidate the mineralogy of Great Britain, by James Sowerby, volume 1 (London, R.Taylor & Co., 1804). The accompanying text states that "These specimens are among the rarest of the fluors known in Great Britain. The upper one is in the possession of my very generous friend Philip Rashleigh, Esq., F.R.S., &c., of Menabilly in Cornwall...the next specimen in value I have the pleasure to possess myself..." The plate is inscribed: "May. 1 1804. Published by Jas. Sowerby, London."
