Blue hyacinth pollen

Study of a blue hyacinth, with a section of the flower and details of the plant’s stamens and pollen, viewed by microscope, under magnification.

Plate 22 from Amusement microscopique, tant pour l'esprit que pour les yeux, contenant... estampes... d'apres nature...by Martin Frobene Ledermuller, plates volume (Adam Wolfgang Winterschmidt, Nuremburg, 1764).

Inscribed above: ‘TAB.XXII.’

The accompanying text is headed: ‘Table XXII.

[I am keeping my word, which I gave some time ago, repeating for the very common flower the blue Hyancinth, what I noticed about plant generation in the description of the Arum. For this: a) the flower is presented at its natural size, with a fruit reservoir b) with the outer petals fallen, containing grains of seeds…].

Martin Frobene [Frobenius] Ledermuller (1719-1769) German naturalist was employed in various capacities as a notary, turning to microscope studies after an illness induced temporary deafness.
