Plate 12 from the paper "On the specific gravity, and the temperature of sea waters, in different parts of the ocean, and in particular seas; with some account of their saline content", by Alexander Marcet, Philosophical Transactions of the Royal Society, vol.109 (1819), pp.161-208. The instrument was made by John Newman of Lisle Street London and used by William Edward Parry's 1819-1820 expedition Baffin Bay aboard HMS Hecla.
