Formal photographic portrait of Thomas George Bonney, head and shoulders, three-quarter face. Inscription in card reads: 'MAULL & FOX 187A PICCADILLY, LONDON' Bonney was a clergyman and geologist, in 1868 he was appointed tutor at St John's College, Cambridge and lecturer in geology. He studied the igneous and metamorphic rocks in Alpine regions and in various parts of England, Wales and the Scottish Highlands. Bonney was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society in 1878.
