Fossil hyena jaw
Plate 10 figure 7 from the paper "On some fossil bones discovered in caverns in the limestone quarries of Oreston...", by Joseph Whidbey with the supplementary paper "A description of the fossil bones found in the caverns of Oreston...", by William Clift, Philosophical Transactions of the Royal Society, vol.113 (1823), pp.78-90. Inscribed in pencil: "Page 12. Young Hyaena. Lower jaw with one shedding molaris, and two permanent ones not perfectly formed." Fossil found at Oreston quarry, near Plymouth in Devon.
