Full length studio portrait of Thomas Burnet, seated in near-profile, looking to the left as viewed. Burnet, wearing spectacles, is posed before a carved wooden table, a folded sheaf of paper in his right hand which rests on the tabletop. Printed below the image: "MAULL & POLYBLANK, LONDON." The reverse has various inscriptions. Printed: "MAULL & POLYBLANK, Photographers, 55, GRACECHURCH STREET, and 187a, PICCADILLY, LONDON." A negative number is inscribed in ink: "30677". The Rev Thomas Burnet was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society in 1838.
