Portrait of John MacCulloch (1773-1835)
Half-length portrait of John MacCulloch seated, resting his left hand on the gilded arm of the chair. His right hand holds a pen poised over a sheet of paper on a table to the left of the picture as viewed. MacCulloch wears a red coat with a fur collar over black trousers. His white shirt is open at the collar and there is a seal or watch at his hip, hanging from a blue ribbon. John MacCulloch was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society in 1820.
