Portrait of John Couch Adams (1819-1882)

Full length studio portrait of J C Adams, seated and posed at a writing desk with a pen poised over paper in his right hand, the left holding what appears to be a letter. Behind the sitter is a curtain or drape. Printed below the image: "MAULL & POLYBLANK, LONDON". John Couch Adams was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society in 1849.
