Booth's body is turned to the right as viewed. Behind is a patterned curtain and wainscot. Printed below the image: "MAULL & POLYBLANK, LONDON". The reverse has various inscriptions. Printed: "MAULL & POLYBLANK, Photographers, 55 GRACECHURCH STREET, and 187A, PICCADILLY LONDON." Below this is the Royal Society's address. James Booth was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society in 1846.
