Full length studio portrait of James Apjohn, seated and posed in half-profile, looking to the left as viewed. There is a cloth-covered table behind Apjohn, upon which rests a set of inkwells. A single patterned drape or curtain is near the table. Printed below the image: "MAULL & POLYBLANK, LONDON". The reverse has various inscriptions. James Apjohn was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society in 1853.
