Head and shoulders portrait of Newton in an open shirt with folded drape. A drawing of the ivory bust now in the British Museum's collections. Inscribed below: "from a carving in ivory by Le Marchand" and signed lower right "G.P.Harding fecit." Commissioned by Charles Turnor. Isaac Newton was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society in 1672, he served as its President from 1703 to 1727.
