Full length studio portrait of the Reverend Henry Christmas, seated and in near left profile. The sitter's right hand rests upon an open book, one of two volumes on a cloth-covered table. A similar richly patterned drape appears behind. The reverse has various inscriptions. Printed: "Maull & Polyblank, Photographers, 55 GRACECHURCH STREET, and 187a, PICCADILLY LONDON." Henry Christmas [later Noel-Fearn] was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society in 1842.
