Full length studio portrait of Sir George Clerk of Penicuick, seated with a paper held in the right hand, resting upon a table. Clerk is half-turned to the left as viewed. Printed below the image: "MAULL & POLYBLANK, LONDON". The reverse has various inscriptions. Printed: "MAULL & POLYBLANK, Photographers, 55, GRACECHURCH STREET, 187a, PICCADILLY and TAVISTOCK HOUSE FULHAM ROAD LONDON." Sir George Clerk was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society in 1819.
