Portrait of George Bishop (1785-1861)

Half length study of Bishop, seated, facing the viewer's right and holding a walking stick in his right hand. Embossed oval stamp below: "BRIGHTON TALBOTYPE GALLERY (HENNAH & KENT) BY LICENSE OF THE PATENTEE 108 KING'S ROAD BRIGHTON." In pencil lower left "Geo.Bishop Elec 1848". George Bishop was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society in 1848.
