Three-quarter length seated studio portrait of F A Abel, looking to the right as viewed. Abel is seated on a leather chair with indistinct furnishings behind. He wears a coat and waistcoat with striped trousers. Printed below the image: "WILSON & BEADELL, 69, NEW BOND STREET, Photographers to the Queen." Information repeated verso, with later pencil inscriptions. Sir Frederick Augustus Abel was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society in 1860.
