Formal photographic portrait of Henry Taylor Bovey, seated left, three-quarter face. Inscription on card reads: 'MAULL & FOX 187A PICCADILLY, LONDON' Bovey was the first Rector of Imperial College of Science and Technology in London. In 1877, he became professor of civil engineering and applied mechanics at McGill University in Montreal, Canada. Bovey was a founder member of both the Canadian Society of Civil Engineers and the Liverpool Society of Civil Engineers. Bovey was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society in 1902.
