Beer cisterns John Smeaton
Product images of Beer cisterns
Design for the two beer cisterns for the Whitbread brewhouse in Chiswell Street, London. Transverse section and plan, 1:48 scale. From Smeaton volume 4, fol. 54v. Samuel Whitbread commissioned Smeaton to design a watertight storage system to allow for porter beer to be housed directly in cisterns rather than in barrels. Whitbread also engaged Smeaton to build the Cardington Bridge, Bedfordshire.
