Comet of 1742
Two astronomical observations of a comet [now designated C/1742/C1] seen at St. James's. London, England in March 1742. The comet is described as being in the constellation of Draco, the major stars of which are marked on this diagram, together with Polaris and Kochab in Ursa Minor. Figure appended to a letter, Thomas Wright, St. James's, 4 March 1742, to the Honourable Mr. Yorke. Signed lower left "Thos. Wright". Thomas Wright was proposed as a Fellow of the Royal Society in 1735, but was not elected.
