The parrot of paradise of Cuba and the red-wood

'Psitticus paradisi', the parrot of paradise of Cuba, perched on a branch of the 'Frutex lauri folio pendulo', the red-wood (Catesby's identifications; modern scientific names: Amazona leucocephala, the Cuban parrot; Colubrina elliptica, the soldierwood). Plate 10 from volume I of The natural history of Carolina, Florida and the Bahama Islands, by Mark Catesby (London, 1731). Mark Catesby was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society in 1733.
