Zoological study of a common squirrel monkey Saimiri sciureus. The animal is native to South America and is shown in profile, on the ground, with one forelimb raised. Plate 23 from The natural history of monkeys, by Sir William Jardine (Edinburgh, 1833) The Naturalist's Library. Mammalia. Vol.1. Referred to in the text as "The Siamiri". The plate is inscribed: "PLATE 23. CALLITHRIX SCIUREUS. Lizars sc."
