St Bernard's monument, Certosa [earthquake damage]

View of the monument to St Bernard (or St Bruno) near the monastery of Certosa de St Lorenzo, Italy: with manuscript additions indicating areas of fallen and distorted masonery. Inscribed verso in ink "The monument in honour of St. Bernard at the Certosa - Padula" and in pencil top right "face E-W...Photog 225". Reproduced as a lithograph in Mallet's 1862 Report, vol.1 pp.370-371. The original photograph has descriptive captions in French "tourne de gauche a droit" rendered into English in the printed version. Partial captions indicate some cropping of the photograph at the left hand side. Collected by Robert Mallet.
